Gold Car in the Big Apple 2007.04.04: New Yorkers won't have to wait until summer to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. They can get an early fix at the New York International Automobile Show, where the AIM Autosport Daytona Prototype will be on display Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week. The car will also take to the streets of New York on Saturday morning, with Mark Wilkins of Toronto driving the No. 61 Lexus-powered Riley Mk XI sponsored by Exchange Traded Gold car. The race car is part of the Heritage & Horsepower exhibit presented by the LeMay Museum on level one of the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The heritage vehicles include a 1912 Standard Electric, a 1927 LaSalle 303 Roadster and a 1953 Hudson Hornet "Satan of Morimar". The horsepower is harnessed in the AIM "Gold Car", Doncaster Racing's MineStar / Tim Hortons Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, a 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Buick Regal and a current Team Penske Indy car. The Rolex Sports Car Series includes three races in New York state this season: the Grand-Am GT Classic at Lime Rock Park on May 28, the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International on June 9 and the Crown Royal 200 at the Glen on Aug. 10.
