Row 2 start for Miami Grand Prix
Mark Wilkins goes fast early for a P4 finish

2008.03.28: Mark Wilkins was at the wheel for this afternoon's short (15 minute) qualifying session for the Daytona Prototypes. Mark would end the session P4 and the Exchange Traded Gold #61 Ford Riley will start on the outside of row two on Saturday afternoon. This matches the team's best qualifying position from last season (P4 at Watkins Glen)

Mark commented at the end of the session, "I took a couple of laps to bring the tires up to temperature then went for it." Mark's fast lap time would essentially be his first hot lap, posting a time of 1:13.614. "It all just settled in right there," Mark continued. "Our times were consistent from that point on but we could not make up any ground to move up the grid. But we are happy to be at the front end of the starting grid for tomorrow."

"Mark did a good job for us this afternoon" noted AIM's Ian Willis. "To match our best qualifying result so early in the season is encouraging and it is good to be near the front of the filed for the sprint races."

The race is scheduled for 3:00 pm ET on Saturday and will run 2:45 minutes (109 laps)
