Edwards on pole at Miller
John puts down a 1:43.650 to take pole

2008.05.17:

Waiting until just the right moment, the AIM Autosport crew put on a set of sticker tires and sent series newcomer John Edwards out to qualify the #7 car. He would immediately set the pace and in just three laps, take the pole for his very first Star Mazda race. Edwards recorded a 1:43.650 at 105.864 mph with seventeen minutes left in the session. The only driver to break into the 43's, he sits .691 seconds up on P2.

We talked with John and he had this to say. "The car was perfect yesterday in practice and if you can believe it, it was better today. It was no effort to drive and we were fast on old tires. The Aim Autosport crew has done a fantastic job to get us to the front in only our first race together." He continued, "We feel very good about the race this afternoon."

The Star Mazda web site currently has a video of John's fast lap from Friday practice on the main page. Click link below to view.
