Star Mazda - Road Atlanta: all AIM second row
Edwards qualifies P3, Marcelli P4

(10.02.2008) AIM Autosport will start both cars on the second row for the Star Mazda race at Road Atlanta after John Edwards (No.7) and Kyle Marcelli (No.71) qualified third and fourth in this morning's session.

Edwards was near the top of the time sheets since open practice on Tuesday but found they were lacking some power on the challenging Road Atlanta race course. Some changes overnight have improved his times.

"We are still a couple of tenths off the pace in terms of qualifying," John offered in conversation after the session, "but we were turning consistent laps and that will be important during the race." He continued, "A lot will depend on how the race goes with respect to yellows. If the race stays green, we have the pace to be there at the end and the consistency to go for the win. With two races to go, every point is important to our championship hopes."

Marcelli, in only his second Star Mazda race, has shown steady improvement since arriving at the track and made up significant ground in qualifying.

"The first thing was getting used to the car which is quite different in terms of power, handling and downforce to what I have run this year," commented Kyle. "The entire AIM Autosport crew has been terrific in helping me get comfortable with the car and they have been supportive of my efforts. That support was a big part of the improvement since we got her and I am happy to have put the car on the second row alongside John." He continued, "It is very encouraging to have qualified at the top of the grid against some very experienced competition. We'll be looking to maintain a strong pace in the race and achieving a good result."
