Montreal 200 quick notes - Motorola Mike No 61 Ford Riley finishes in sixth. Tower Events No 51 Ford Riley goes out early.

(2009.08.29)The AIM Autosport Motorola Mike Direct Connect No 61 Ford Riley would come to the checkered flag in sixth place - just nipped at the line by 52-thousandths of a second, in a race that saw as much action in the pits as there was on the race track. Changing weather - no rain, rain, no rain and so on, meant teams were diving in and out of pit lane to make last minute tire changes to meet the track conditions. What was most interesting is that for a race run under such conditions, there was only one caution period that lasted but four laps.

Mark started the race and set a fast lap (in the dry) of 1:33.985 on lap twenty one. Just around the one hour mark of the two hour race, he handed the car over to Burt who went out on slicks just as the rain started to fall again. Burt came in for rain tires just before the yellow came out which was just bad luck and the No. 61 ended up a lap down. What was interesting about that is a lot of the rest of the field suffered a similar fate so even though the 61 was not in a battle for the lead, there was quite the battle for position back in the field. Burt had fallen off to eleventh but pit stop cycles - and once again, changing track conditions, would get him back up to fifth in the closing laps and he was on the same pace as the leader.

The final lap was a tight battle with the No 58 - the car that AIM was victorious over in 2008, and Darren Law, in a drag race to the line, just beat the 61.

The Tower Events No 51 Ford Riley suffered severe damage to the front left when he came together with another car going into the hairpin. The car limped to the pits but the crew was not able to affect repairs and get it back on track to complete the race. The car was classified 15th
