AIM Autosport’s GAMMA88 Car Qualifies Fourth at Road America Having posted a competitive time on old tires during the second half of morning practice, AIM was thrilled with the car’s handling. With limited running yesterday due to inclement weather, the true pace of the competition remained to be seen. “We have been working hard to reduce downforce, and therefore drag, for the long straights here at Road America,” said Chief Engineer Ian Willis. “But that places a bigger emphasis on generating grip from the chassis without hurting the tires. “We’re very happy to have qualified fourth fastest and we need to find just a bit more speed for tomorrow.” “I’m really happy to have qualified in the top five and do a good job for GAMMA88 because we wouldn’t be here without their support,” said Burt. “We’ve got some more work to do to get with the Ganassi team as they’re running the same package as us and they’ve been the benchmark of the series. I’m confident that with the tuning we do tonight we’ll have a strong race car tomorrow.” “It’s a great result for the team,” said Burt’s co-driver, Mark Wilkins. “We’ve had a great car that we’ve been fine tuning since our test day on Wednesday. We’ve had a lot of confidence in the car and Burt drove a great qualifying session. Fourth is a great result given that we’ve missed a couple of races and have been playing catch up.” The Rolex Sports Car Series 250 Driven by VISIT FLORIDA is slated to start at 11am (noon ET) on Saturday with live coverage broadcast on SPEED and MRN.
