July 25, 2011: Walt Bowlin finished first in the Star Mazda Expert Class last weekend at Mosport International Raceway. And now the fine print, Walt was the only entrant in his class. After the race, he joked about his exciting race, battling for position with himself and brilliantly passing himself for the win.

While Walt's uncontested win from the pole was a source of amusement within AIM's Star Mazda crew, the team did have a goal for the weekend and that was simply to hone his racecraft. The team helped Walt find the optimal racing line, cautioning him to resist the urge to follow the rubber line laid down by the ALMS cars. On race day, Walt was tasked with trying to keep pace with some of the Championship Class drivers. Mosport is a challenging circuit that has caught out even the best drivers so just completing the race without spinning was a victory, although he did get a little out of shape at one point. Overall, Walt's Tampa Bay Jaw Surgery car placed 12th in a field of 14.
