AIM Autosport Targeting Podium in Montreal
AIM is thrilled to have back-to-back races close to its home base near Toronto. The team has participated in a limited number of races this season and the breaks between events have felt painfully long. This time, however, team members had just two days at home before getting back on the road. As at Watkins Glen, AIM has enjoyed a bright history at Montreal, achieving success in many disciplines. Its crown achievement in Montreal came in 2008 when its Daytona Prototype won what remains the closest finish in series history, a three-wide thriller that AIM snatched by 0.064s. That 2008 win came thanks to excellent fuel economy as did last week’s result. It will be difficult to complete this weekend’s race with just one pitstop, but AIM’s engineering team of Ian Willis and Jeff Lohman are looking at all the scenarios that will get the GAMMA88 car to another great result using a fuel-saving strategy. AIM is welcomes the addition of Sarafina as an associate sponsor. Sarafina—whose logo first appeared on the car last weekend—produces a line of quality, frozen pizzas made with healthy, natural ingredients. "Montreal is a vibrant city where you can feel the energy and excitement that the race brings,” said driver, Mark Wilkins. “The festivities downtown draw huge crowds and the grandstands are always full. We have enjoyed success at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in every class of car we have raced here.” The Montreal 200 weekend opens with practice sessions on Thursday afternoon. Practice and qualifying is schedule for Friday and the race is set to start on Saturday at 11am. Live coverage will be presented by MRN and SPEED will broadcast delayed coverage at 7pm.

Montreal, Que. (August 18, 2011) — AIM Autosport’s GRAND-AM Daytona Prototype team has arrived in Montreal for Saturday’s Montreal 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Fresh off an impressive effort last weekend at Watkins Glen where their BMW-Riley sponsored by GAMMA88 led almost a quarter of the race and finished fourth, the team is looking forward to bolstering its successful record in Montreal with a top-three finish.
